Creative Money

Now that you have a passion project, wouldn’t it be amazing to get paid to do it?! Today’s post is about making money on your hobby. That thing you do in your creative time, sell it. People want what you have to offer. People love buying things. It’s time to make money.

This is one of my favorite topics because this is where my clients are at. They want more money.

The first question I always ask is WHY.

Now, there is no right or wrong answer here. But you do have to like your reason. You want to make sure the reason you want to make money on your creative project isn’t coming from a place of lack.

Sometimes you can get out of lack by asking why again and again. Why do you want more money? Because there isn’t enough to pay the bills. Why? Because we bought a new car. Why? Because we want to take a trip to see grandma. Why? Because family is important to us. Why? Because that is something we value. It’s what life is about. BOOM.

So the reason you want to make more money is so you can spend your time with your family. That is something you can work with. That is something you already have, so having more of it will be easier.

But let’s go back to making money. If you want to make money on your creative project, you have to believe you can. Today’s post is going to be about belief and I broke it down into 3 steps so it’s easy for you.

First you have to believe you can do it. Then you have to believe your product is something your customer wants and is willing to pay for. Last, you have to believe your customer will be satisfied, she will get the results she was looking for.

step one| you

The first step is you. You have to believe that you can do it. You have to believe you can make the product and that you can sell it. Selling is really just conveying the value of something.

When you believe you can do that, it’s going to be so much easier to do it.

step two| product

You want to believe your product is something your customer wants and is willing to pay for. What I like to do in this stage is to figure out what problem your product solves.

Maybe you make baby clothes. A problem a mom could have is that she has a baby and an event to go to and she wants to get something nice for her baby but she also wants her baby to be comfortable. Your solution could be that you sell comfortable and cozy baby clothes for the stylish mom.

Then ask yourself if you believe that your product is something she wants and is willing to pay for.

step three| customer

The last step you want to believe is in your customer. Do you believe there are people out in the world who have this problem? Do you believe it is a problem they will pay for to solve? Do you believe that if she solves her problem with your solution, that she will be happy?

Look at this like a triangle. There is you, your product, and your customer.

You have to believe in you, you have to believe in your product, and you have to believe in your customer.

But it also goes the opposite way. Your customer has to believe that you are the right one for her, she has to believe that your product is the right one, and she has to believe that her problem will be solved. That she isn’t going to be searching online for any other solutions.

That’s how it goes right? We search and search and then we’re like, ‘This is it. This is what I’m looking for.’ and we buy.

you can make money

You have the ability to make money on your creative project. You do not need a website. You do not need anything except your product or service, a way to take money, and your belief in those three things.

As soon as you have the belief, you will know what to do to make it happen.

Alright, I hope this was helpful. Let me know in the comments how it feels to think about making money on something you created.
