Create More Wealth

What if you could make more money in a genuine way that wasn't about greed at all? What if how we are currently thinking about money is wrong? What if the amount of money that comes to us is from the value we give to the world, and not from our time + effort? I've just listened to The Life Coach School podcast #161 called Money Beliefs. If you have time, listen to Brooke. She will change your world. You will be so glad. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to write about it here, to help me to learn more and to change my own money beliefs. Because, like she says, "Money can solve a lot of problems."

Everything here is from the notes I took while listening to the podcast, so know that some words are from Brooke Castillo.

How to Create More Wealth

  1. First and foremost, you must overcome your old money beliefs.
  2. Then you must be the best version of yourself.
  3. You must always give more than what is asked.
  4. Make sure you have a good relationship with money.
  5. And finally, be open to receiving.

Old Money Beliefs

It's important to know what your current money beliefs are so that you can change them. Remember, if you want to change anything, you must first know where you are starting. Take some time to think about money. Why do you have as much as you do? How did you earn it? Where did your money come from? How do you spend it? How do you feel about large sums of money? What is a lot of money to you? Is there a limit? What do you want to do with your money? What's holding you back from having more money?

Deepak Chopra says that money is like blood and that if we don't let it flow, it too will become clotted and cause damage. I think at one point Brooke said that money was like oxygen; it is just here, in the world, and there is enough for everyone. If someone has more, that doesn't mean someone else has less. Just as we all have air to breathe, there is money for everyone.

One of the greatest and easiest tools to see what your current thoughts about money are I actually took from an earlier episode of The Life Coach School podcast. Brooke had a fill-in-the-blank about money. (TIP: you can swap out 'money' for practically anything.)

If you believe that money comes from time + effort, I want you to let go of that belief. Your probably wondering how you are supposed to earn money if you don't have to put in time + effort. Well, you be a person that provides value.

Be the Best Version of You

To be a person that provides value is to be the best version of yourself. This means that whatever is asked of you, you give double. Think about the roles that you have as a wife, as a mother. How can you add more value to those roles? Think about your work. What if you made your boss your customer, and you give more? Think about your roles in your community. What can you do to add more value? Brooke encourages us to create as much value as we can with our lives.

Give More

When you give more value, it will come back to you ten fold. This doesn't necessarily mean that you will get paid in money. You can get paid other ways. But, give more, and do it for you. Do it because you decided to be a valuable person. Create your own wealth by creating your own value. If you have an area where you don't want to give more, explore that. Don't force giving. Do it because you genuinely want to. Brooke says to 'create as much service to the world as you can possibly do for the sake of how amazing you will feel'.

Have a Good Relationship with Money

Pay attention to your relationship with money. Do you spend money to feel good? Or, do you spend money only when you feel good? There is a difference there, and it's important to understand. Having a good relationship with money means creating a plan for your money. Do you spend it as soon as you have some? How can you value your money right now? It doesn't matter how much or how little you have. Start valuing it, and it will appreciate. Have a plan before you spend. Feel good when you spend it.

Be Open to Receiving

As a stay at home mom, I am taking this very seriously. Often times I think of how I wish we had more money. I think about all the things I would do if we had more money. Things like zoo memberships and gym memberships and new bikes for the whole family. Listening to Brooke has completely changed my thinking. I can't plan for what I don't have. I need to plan what I do have, and create more value in the world. I need to become a person of value. I hope to do this. Even if we don't receive any more money in the paycheck, I know I will feel amazing. I know I have been lacking in my roles. I know that if I can be a valuable person, I will be wealthy. And so I am open to receiving that which is given. Maybe it's money. Maybe there isn't a limited amount. Maybe it's opportunity. Maybe it's something emotional. Whatever it is, I know it will be of value to me. Be open to receiving. Be free. Share. Give.

Focus on how much wealth you can add to the world and not so much on money. You can get paid other ways. Create wealth by creating value. Instead of focusing on what money can buy, focus on being the best version of yourself and adding value to the world. Be a wealthy being, be valuable.
